Dear Friends of The Orchestra, As many of you know, The Cecelia Foundation is the charitable arm of the Orchestra, enabling us to grant scholarships, and in some cases new, professional-quality instruments to students who have displayed academic excellence, talent, and an intention to make music an integral part of their lives.
In the past, our recordings and private donations were our backbone. Eight years ago our first cookbook, I Canzoni became a fantastic success, Now, we are pleased to present FATHER ALPOHNSE’S FOOD FOR THE SOUL, an international collection of over 200 recipes compiled by me and my cousin Antoinette Scillieri. We’ve tried, tweaked, and patiently measured and proportioned each one of them during this past summer, and I’m happy to tell you they’re all wonderful! From American favorites, to Dutch (Yes, Dutch!) cuisines, to Jewish staples to the little known Italian selections, the book promises to be a joy to use!
This season, we are delighted to bring you our newest recording CHRISTMAS BY THE SEA featuring the vocalists you hear at this performance. Victoria’s AVE MARIA is absolutely thrilling, Chris’s rendition of Marvin Hamlisch’s ONE SONG is exactly what the composer had hoped for, and Randy’s OUR FATHER will have you pressing the repeat button over and over again! OUR SWINGING BY THE SEA is a collection of 1940’s favorites performed The Orchestra’s BIG BAND. The combination of the Cookbook and the Christmas Recording is available for $30, and the recordings are $15 when sold separately. These all make great gifts while helping the Cecelia Foundation put a musical instrument into a young person’s hands!
